One of the biggest investments when building a new bike is the groupset. The latest electronic groupsets can comfortably cost over £2,000, which makes them one of the priciest purchases after a new bike frame.
However, the Sigma Sports summer sale has a deal that might be of interest. The online retailer is currently offering 47 per cent off Shimano Ultegra Di2.
The groupset sits one rung below Shimano’s top Dura-Ace groupset and costs £2,259 at full price. But you can now pick it up for £1,199 from Sigma.

It’s not unheard of for Shimano Ultegra to go on sale. But while there are usually limited crank-length and crankset options, Sigma’s summer sale has all the major ones reduced.

There are three crank-length options available – from 165mm to 172.5mm – alongside two crankset options.
The groupset is available with either 50/34-tooth or 52/36-tooth chainrings.
The latest version of Shimano Ultegra was launched at the same time as the newest Dura-Ace groupset in 2021.
When BikeRadar’s Warren Rossiter reviewed it, he said: “If you’re looking to upgrade your current drivetrain, or you’re buying a complete bike equipped with the new Ultegra, you can do so knowing you’re getting top-tier performance from a simply brilliant groupset.”
Praising its slick and dependable shifting and powerful brakes, Warren also queried why anyone would need to buy Dura-Ace – a question that’s particularly pertinent now Ultegra Di2 has such a big discount.
