Specialized is recalling approximately 6,500 Pedal Axle Extenders. There have been 10 reports of the pedal extenders breaking, including two reports of minor injuries, involving scrapes and bruises.

These Pedal Axle Extenders were used to extend riders’ Q-factor as part of Specialized’s Body Geometry fit program. They were sold in pairs and thread directly into the crank arms. Pedal Axle Extenders are made of stainless steel and fit a 9/16in pedal thread. They are labeled with an ‘L’ and an ‘R’.

Pedal Axle Extenders were sold at Specialized retailers and online at www.specialized.com from January 2009 to June 2015 for approximately US$40.

Consumers who purchased Pedal Axle Extenders are urged to stop using them immediately and return them to an authorized Specialized retailer for a full refund.
