Roughly 50mm travel, 27.2mm size

Specialized Factory Racing team mechanic Benno Willeit posted a picture to his Instagram account on Friday of Jaroslav Kulhavy's S-Works Epic World Cup, clearly showing a prototype short-travel version of the company's Command Post dropper seatpost. Specialized isn't saying much for now but we do know that it'll be called the Command Post XCP - and we'll likely see it formally announced in a few weeks' time.

Technical details are scant but a few key features can be discerned from the image. It's designed to fit a 27.2mm-diameter seat tube and it looks to have just 50mm of travel. All of the critical internal elements appear to be housed in a bulge in the middle of the post and as there is no visible housing attachment at the head, it seems safe to assume that the new post will use internal 'stealth'-style routing.

We have no official claimed weight right now but given the application, our guess would be somewhere in the neighborhood of 350g.

Stay tuned for more.
