The kit Team GB will wear at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games has been unveiled at a presentation at the Tower of London today.

The dark colouring is a departure from the kit worn at previous Games, and has come about via a partnership between British fashion designer Stella McCartney and German sportswear giant Adidas.

Echoing the controversy at the unveiling of the much-derided Olympic logo, the kit has drawn criticism from all quarters, not least from our Facebook page. "Stella McCartney - off to the Tower with you, such a shocking design!!!" barked Roy McNeill.

Speaking about the design, McCartney said it was "important to stay true to that iconic design (of the Union flag) but also to modernise it and present it in a contemporary way". The kit will be available to purchase in shops, and proceeds from sales will go towards paying for the Games.
