UK supermarket giant Tesco is now offering mountain bike skills courses as a reward for its Clubcard holders.

It follows speculation that Britain's biggest retailer is ramping up its presence in the bicycle market, with industry website BikeBiz suggesting that Tesco could soon create mini bike shops within its larger stores, as well as providing more extensive bike training for its staff.

The Clubcard skills training will be offered through a tie-up with Northampton-based Get Mountain Biking, who run skills courses, guided rides and bike maintenance courses at venues across England.

Anyone who has £15 of Clubcard Reward Vouchers can sign up for a one-day Introductory Skills Course or Intermediate Skills Course – the normal cost is £60. Children's courses are also available. Sessions are held at Woburn Trails in Beds/Bucks, Thetford Forest in Suffolk, Harlestone Firs in Northamptonshire and Sherwood Pines in Nottinghamshire.
