We spotted this new cycle rack from Thule at the recent IceBike show. Although it looks like one of the company’s regular towbar racks, this carrier has been designed to take the weight of two electric bikes.

The EuroPower 916 is Thule’s newest rear mount system, and can carry a maximum load of 60kgs. As well as e-bikes, that means it will be capable of carrying a couple of downhill bikes – something many racks simply aren't designed to do.

The carrier has some excellent little features which set Thule's products apart from many of their competitors. We really liked the new foot-operated tilt mechanism, allowing you access to the boot of your car, plus the detachable bike arms for easy loading.

The loading ramp is an optional accessory which will make the wheeling on or off of bikes more straightforward – especially for the older cyclist.

Being able to lock the rack to the car and the bikes to the rack are standard, as is the one-hand fitting of the rack onto the towbar.

The Thule EuroPower 916 will be available to buy in March for £345. The loading aid will retail at £30.
