Eight of the world's top professional cycling teams will ride the first Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic, which takes place as part of the Prudential RideLondon cycling festival on 3-4 August.

The 140-mile Classic will be the biggest one-day race in the UK. It will be run over a similar route to that used in last year's Olympic Games road race and will be staged on 4 August.

Of the 25 teams, seven are top tier UCI ProTour: Belkin, Cannondale, FDJ, Garmin-Sharp, Orica GreenEDGE, Sky and Vacansoleil DCM. There are also six British UCI Continental teams (Madison Genesis, Node4 Giordana Racing, Rapha Condor-JLT, Team IG Sigma Sport, Team Raleigh and Team UK Youth) along with a British national team and other Continental and Pro Continental outfits.

The full line-up of teams and riders will be confirmed after the end of this year’s Tour de France.

"There has been huge interest in the event from the top teams," said race director Mick Bennett. "The route, which is a variation of that used for the Olympic road cycling event plus three circuits of Leith Hill, together with extensive coverage on BBC and international TV, has been a big draw."
