German lightweight specialist Tune has teamed up with the Tekkerz racing team for a limited-edition metallic gold wheelset.
Tune’s reputation for lightweight alloy and carbon parts is the stuff of legend. The weight weenies' favoured brand has been making some of the lightest parts in Germany for over 30 years.
It has now joined forces with upstart racing team Tekkerz on a limited-edition wheelset that combines low weight and stand-out looks.
Who are Tekkerz?

South London’s Tekkerz race team does things differently, with an aversion to tours and multi-stage races; instead, it has put a focus on crits, cyclocross and track racing.
It is also committed to promoting and encouraging grassroots participation. Now, Tekkerz has partnered with Tune on a limited-edition set of 50mm-deep Nano-hub equipped carbon wheels.
Nano hubs

The Nano hubs are Tune’s latest lightweight hubset, weighing in at only 278g a pair in road specification. The hubset has a completely new free-wheel system with heat-treated steel pawls, a redesigned tooth ring with 69 points of engagement, and you can add three more pawls, should you wish, which brings the Nanos up to 138 points of engagement.
Tune says it has increased the weather sealing and, crucially, produced an axle design with automatic axial play adjustment (no shims needed). The hubset has options for road racers, gravel cyclists and mountain bikers.

These are paired with Tune’s TRC50 carbon rims – a 50mm-deep carbon tubeless rim with a 25mm internal hooked profile.
Pimp my ride

The Tune x Tekkerz wheelset's bold gold colourway comes with its own story. Tekkerz team manager and racer Alec Briggs explains: “Tekkerz was set up to offer cycling something different from the mainstream. We’re always looking to push the limits – in racing and in style.
"Gold wheels make up some of the greatest motor racing liveries that have influenced me since I was a kid, so I wanted to offer that look to cycling. It’s just as important for the wheels to be at the top end of performance as well as looking good.”
The gold rims feature a large Tune logo, complemented by a Tyrannosaurus Rex, the mascot of the Tekkerz team.
The wheels are built with straight-pull Sapim CX-Ray spokes and equipped with Enduro bearings. They come with a claimed weight of 1,389g and are priced at €2,495. The wheelset ist limited to 100 and available now.
