New UK road team Orbea-For Goodness Shakes! visited the University of Essex on Saturday for some pre-season physiological testing.
They were put through their paces at the Human Performance Unit to aid them with their winter training.
Team manager James Whatling told BikeRadar: "It was a tough day's work but the results were good and gave us our base levels to work on as we start to clock up the miles over the winter.
"We did an incremental test with lots of long intervals at different ranges, and a Wingate sprint test, and we got interesting stuff like VO2s [aerobic capacity] and haemoglobin levels. We should receive the results this week.
"We're going to go back at the start of the season and see how we've done, and then have another visit mid-season. It's good for me as a manager because I can have a look at where they are and what they need to work on, and set them in the right direction for their winter training."
