The Winter edition of the Kona Mash-Up took place last weekend with over 400 riders hitting the world-class Whites Level and July trails in AfanForest, South Wales.
Riders had the choice of tackling the Enduro category which included timed singletrack, climbing and downhill sections over a distance of around 40km. The shorter Technical category included timed downhill and singletrack sections too.
Rowan Sorrell (Orange/Royal) won the men’s Technical race in 10:59min ahead of Tim Williams (Mojo Suspension) and Martin Astley who finished second and third, respectively.
Rachel Vicary (CC-CC/Powell Fitness) topped the women’s Technical category ahead of Jess Stone (WorcesterUniversity) and Caroline Brighton.
Psyclewerx team rider David Beskeen took the win in the Endurance category completing the course in 23:13min. James Astbury (DHCyclesport) came second ahead of Al Fairbairn (Hargroves Cycles) in third.
Meggie Bichard (WXC) won the overall women’s Endurance race ahead of Rosina Kerswell and Rachael Spraggs (Moonglu).

Riders in the Technical category spent a few hours doing re-runs of the timed black run.

Many riders chilled and exchanged tactics at the event village at the top of Windy Point.

Endurance riders had more distance to cover and were timed on a climb rather than just the singletrack and downhill sections.

The Drop Off café hosted a lively after-party event.
