Lumicycle have been producing lights in the UK for over a decade. Their versatile and upgradeable LED headlight won last year’s lights test and their latest light, the LED3 XPG ATL, is more powerful and £25 cheaper.
Three Cree XPG LEDs sit in a compact barrel head on a sturdy thumbwheel-secured bracket, with a simple but effective helmet mount supplied in the kit. The powerful beam is an excellent balance of high-speed reach and broad 3D illumination for all-round trail-riding.
A large toggle switch on the back means operation of the four modes and flashing sequences is easy, even with frozen hands. The Boost option also lets you run max power for three minutes before returning to the normal high mode, which is ideal for short descents.
Run time and mode are clearly communicated by a small traffic light LED on the back and even with the smallest Elite 26 bag battery you can knock out an epic ride without worry. Real night warriors can go for the double size Pro 52 bag or bottle options or carry a spare Elite 26.
Modular lamps and batteries make upgrading easy and Lumicycle are the only light brand we’ve never had a single reliability issue with. Their excellent customer service has gained them a loyal fanbase too.
