You’d be more than foolish not to buy one. Great value for money

With the action sports world focused (that wasn’t a joke, but thanks anyway) on the GoPro HERO3, Italian unknowns Nilox have launched their own camera – the excellently named Foolish.

This 1080p HD camera is as ridiculous as it sounds, but only because it packs in many of the top-end features and useful extras of a GoPro for a much more basic price.

There are two buttons for simple usage. One operates the video camera, and the other does stills of up to 8MP. You do have to open the waterproof case to turn the device on or switch settings, though.

Using the LCD screen uses up battery life more quickly, and although it’s definitely helpful for checking you’ve got what you wanted (rather than shaky, off-centre rubbish), it isn’t essential as Nilox have attached a laser to help you easily aim the thing correctly in the first place.

Our battery also never ran out of juice on our favourite trails, unlike some other cameras we’ve tested. The UK gets a special package that includes a detachable LCD display, 8GB micro SD memory card and waterproof case.
