The Scotts are, as the name suggests, a cycle shoe designed for urban use. The sole has the smoothest tread, ideal for the office, that won't have you shedding mud or dirt on the carpet.
It's a noticeably heavy shoe and the uppers are durable Nubuck leather with small nylon inserts. There's one big rear reflector but other than that, it's Henry Ford black. Construction is good and all the stitching and gluing is very tidy. There's a small amount of flex in the forefoot for easier walking, yet sufficient stiffness elsewhere for cycling. For the same size, they're roomier than the Shimano's and I found that despite the inside of the heel featuring gripper dots to help keep the heel in place, they still felt loose - it's worth trying a couple of sizes. Unfortunately for an urban shoe, there's no pocket in the tongue to tuck away stray lace ends, which is a shame.
