Sneaking in at just under the 300g mark, the understated looking S-Force strikes a good balance between head coverage and weight.
The Zoom-Pro adjustment system for the cradle is one of the most positive feeling systems on any helmet we’ve tried, and although it can be a little tough on the fingers when first used, you should only really have to set it up once anyway (unless you suddenly develop a large head overnight).
Its 24 vents work together well so your head temperature doesn’t skyrocket. Good quality pads are a welcome feature, and they last quite well if you’re going to be washing them on a regular basis too.
The peak isn't adjustable, but it is nice and short and in the right place to begin with – adjustability therefore not being needed much at all. A version without the peak is available for a fiver less.
The tartan colour scheme might not be to everyone’s liking, but it is available in white and black versions too – although our white sample developed strange green marks after a few weeks' use.
The S-Force has well-placed relective sections at the rear for a little extra added safety. The fit and range of adjustment make this one a good choice if you have an odd shaped head.
Abus offer a crash replacement scheme on any helmet less than three years old (proof of purchase required), allowing you to buy a new helmet at a reduced price.
