Our review
It’s great value, well made and has decent features, but particularly large or small heads need not apply

Swoopy styling, lots of vents and a reasonable pricetag put MET’s Veleno right up there with the big boys of cross-country helmets. The finish is impressive too.

Although the in-moulded hard case doesn’t extend around the base, the exposed inner shell has a slightly glossy appearance that looks as though it’ll be harder wearing than most.

The two available sizes don’t cover as wide a range as some brands, but the full-circumference cradle adjusts easily and provides a snug, comfy fit. The tethered chin strap makes adjusting fore- and-aft strap tension particularly easy.

Downsides? Well, the Veleno lacks the deep internal channels of more expensive rivals, so it’s not quite as cool as the best of the rest. And the non-adjustable visor sits prominently in your line of sight, which we found distracting. Despite that, it’s undeniably great value and well built.
