Our review
High-quality, super-grippy, minimally padded gloves

MacWet are well known in the water-skiing, equestrian and shooting worlds but are new to the cycling market. Their slogan is ‘all grip, no slip’.

The Climatec gloves are quite thin and have no padding, but whatever the conditions they claim to offer a lot of grip – and they do too.

MacWet say their proprietary fabric increases grip as the gloves absorb moisture; we were pleasantly surprised when they did just that, improving hold in humid or rainy weather above already impressive dry weather performance.

The thin, unpadded palm is ideal for those who prize control over cushioning. The water-resistant Climatec backing does an adequate job of keeping fingers warm for use as a spring-weight glove, especially with the wide, secure Velcro cuff to keep drafts at bay.

They dry very quickly too. They’re not warm enough for extremely cold days, but if you’re looking for gloves with minimal padding and lots of grip, these are well worth considering.

They come in no fewer than 11 sizes. Simply by measuring the width of your palm just below the knuckles, it is easy to select the right size from the 14 on offer giving a snug-fitting palm. However the finger fit seems to be a little wider than average.
