Effectively two jackets in one - does a great job of keeping you both warm and dry

Where the Maitland differs from many other insulated jackets is that it’s also waterproof, which makes it a great bit of kit for long weekends away, or for keeping warm when riding or racing in winter.

It doesn’t take long to heat up when wearing this on the bike, so you’ll not want to be riding far in it – it’s not an out-and-out riding jacket after all. Get it on at the end of a freezing ride though and you’ll be warm in no time, even on the coldest of days with just a T-shirt on underneath.

Although it won’t pack down as small as a standard insulated jacket, it’s a sort of two-for-one because there’s no need for a separate waterproof.

Even on freezing days in pouring rain, it not only kept us nice and warm but dry too, with water beading off the durable AQ2 shell. The zipped pockets and roomy, adjustable hood are handy too.
