This softshell jacket is made from a fabric with a high Lycra content, which Fat Face calls SWC (Sensitive Wearing Concept). This means the jacket has been tuned to feel as soft as possible without losing any of its rough-and-tumble attributes.
It also features twin zip handwarmer pockets, a chest zip pocket with MP3 cable routing, a weird zip left wrist pocket and a draw cord waist. It's not waterproof, but it is water- and wind-resistant.
We've worn it over base layers as an outer and also as a mid-layer under a Gore shell with no complaints.
Fat Face is known as a lifestyle clothing brand, so it seemed like a bit of a joke when they went into serious technical gear about a year ago. But it turned out to be some of the best designed and well made crossover kit - stuff you can wear on the bike and/or in the pub - we'd ever used. The Wengen fits right in.
