Does its job well enough, but boxy cut likely to be a bone of contention for many riders

We’ve been fans of Showers Pass for a while. The US brand understands rainy weather and isn’t too pricey either, and its kit’s now more widely available.

The company was founded on the needs of bike commuters, and that’s evident in the Double Century. There’s a lot of reflective detailing, the cut is boxy and the sleeves are very wide – which does give you lots of room to layer over everyday clothes but means that when you hit the trails you’ll need to adjust the cuffs right in, and we weren’t keen on the folds that creates for water to run into.

There are good pit zips and a floating back yoke to increase airflow when the going gets warm. All in all, this is a more traditional style jacket that may not appeal to all mountain bikers but does do ‘sensible’ very well.
