Pearl Izumi Whisper review

The Whisper features a shapely cut that fits and flatters curvy women best. The fabric performs very well in the wind and does a decent job of repelling a light drizzle but it doesn’t breathe brilliantly. Despite the large mesh panel at the rear, it can still feel humid inside if the sun heats things up and you get sweaty.

If you want a smaller, lighter gilet, go for the womens Pearl Izumi Optik.

The Whisper features a shapely cut that fits and flatters curvy women best. The fabric performs very well in the wind and does a decent job of repelling a light drizzle but it doesn't breathe brilliantly.

Despite the large mesh panel at the rear, it can still feel humid inside if the sun heats things up and you get sweaty. That said, the single layer polyester offers great protection in cooler weather and the gilet has a durable, quality feel. Details include a soft lining on the collar and under the chin and a solid front storm flap. There are reflective strips on the back, a small pocket on the upper chest and another small one at the rear. It packs down easily into a back pocket, but if you want a smaller, lighter gilet, go for the womens Pearl Izumi Optik.
