No fuss trail and freeride jersey that is both durable and breathable – just beware the long fit

The Turbulence jersey sits at the top of Royal Racing’s all-mountain range, and is available in either long- or short-sleeved versions – we tested the latter.

A breathable four-way stretch material covers much of the casually styled jersey, with cooling mesh panels sewn in throughout, including at the armpits. Combined with the baggy fit, this ensures that hot rides are met with an airy, comfortable feel.

A Lycra V-neck collar offers a slightly snug, yet comfortable fit around the neck and helps provide shape to the material below.

Designed for trail, all-mountain and freeride use, there’s enough weight to the material to withstand a few crashes. Because of its intended purpose, the Turbulence does away with any additional features such as a pocket, glass/goggle wipe or zipper, keeping things simple and durable.

The jersey isn't overly baggy, but it has plenty of length : Colin Levitch / Immediate Media

The Turbulence is a long jersey...

Our only issue came with regards to the fit, with our 'small' sample being longer than many other brands' medium or even large sizes.

This generous length and baggy fit does provide plenty of room for protection, or for tucking the shirt in, if that's your preference. But those looking to run it out will want to size down – unless you’re a small, in which case you’ve got nowhere to go.
