The Dakine Boundary shorts with Comp Liner short are lightweight and baggy, with a removable inner-short. With a slim fit and basic pocket layout, these shorts are best suited to cross-country or trail riders.
The material used proved to be durable and tear resistant, but it seemed to always look creased. One tester noted that the material had a scratchy feel against the skin. The above-the-knee length was perfect for all-day pedalling, without ever restricting our movement.
The subtle graphic and logo styling was a hit as was the zippered and reinforced pocket layout. When full, the pockets didn’t interfere with our pedalling and we were able to access the contents while on the bike too.
The shorts are fastened with a zip and two press-fit buttons, which was easy to use, even with gloves on. The sizing of the outer short was generous, the built-in internal waist belt provided huge amounts of adjustment (about two sizes worth), yet the legs were on the skinny side.This range of adjustability was an odd match to the tight fitting inner short which was closer to a size smaller.
The Comp inner short was the highlight of these shorts, providing a snug, yet comfortable fit. An 8mm thick Italian chamois pad is used, which provided great comfort for longer rides. Leg grippers kept the inner short in place and cut-able tethers allow you to easily separate the inner from the outer short. Dakine also sell this inner short separately.
