The unusual look of the 7Z1 is down to the aggressive, anti-rust coating and the chain has been specifically designed for hub geared bikes or singlespeeds with narrow sprockets. It features a snap-on link connector for easy installation.

Already this has proven to be just as good as a Record chain, but for less money and without the hollow link pins for weight saving

The missing link for hard used fixies/ singlespeeds

The Sunrace JuJu series consists of 8, 9 and 10 speed competition level chains. All the JuJu chains are chrome plated and have hollow pins to keep the weight down.

The Ultra has a good reliability record, though by the time you factor in the expensive tool that is necessary to re-join the links there are more economical options available.

We don't know a single rider who wouldn't recommend using SRAM chains.

Any chain will provide good service if regularly cleaned, but in our experience the ultra-narrow 10-speed chain is more susceptible to wear than a nine-speed chain, resulting in poorer indexing of the gears. This chain is specified for use with the Xenon, Mirage and Veloce groupsets and the chrome-plated finish is quite resistant to corrosion during the winter months.

KMC have been making chains for many years and now produce over 80 million a year for a wide range of companies, including Shimano. The x10sl Gold sits at the top of their current road range, and as the name suggests is a 10-speed compatible chain...

Cheap but good 9 speed chain

If you want a strong chain then look no further than YBN's excellent MK9-S2 - it's designed for high-load applications. Make sure you fit it the right way up though because the links are directional.

Shimano's HG73 is a 9-speed chain that's very popular because of its low price, widespread availability and functionality. In fact, it comes as standard on many new bikes.

Connex chains are some of the all-time greats - they last ages (they don't disintegrate after a winter of grime and Muc-Off) and they keep shifting smoothly until they die. The 910 is no exception.

We haven't ridden many KMC chains recently and the Gold chain is a pleasant surprise - the shifting is ace, it's exceptionally silent and it just keeps plugging on through the grime.

Precision manufactured in Germany, Rohloff chains have a highly deserved reputation for quality and durability. Available in 8 and 9 speed versions it's the chain others should be judged by.
