Strong, stiff and smart-looking crank, but heavy on your bike and your savings

Relatively new but already proven by Sam Hill, this World Champ crank is a definite contender for rich riders.

The smart polished and anodised patented hollow forged Al6061/T6 arms use a separate spider and steel axle but the overall combo is impressively stiff.

FSA claims the construction makes them light yet superbly strong too. We weighed them at 1300g including the bottom bracket, though, which makes them among the the heaviest cranks around.

Chromoly pedal inserts and chainring bolts give strength, and even serious impacts won’t see through FSA’s transparent bashguard. FSA have doubled up on the bearings of their Mega Exo Quad external BB for extra stiffness and that should increase durability too.

The extra bearings mean weight is 70g higher than claimed though, taking it up to Diabolus level. Some riders will also find the 32-tooth middle ring too small, while the price is high compared to the competition.

Gravity is FSA’s new hardcore division, boasting some of the best riders on its team, including world champions Sam Hill and Sabrina Jonnier. The company has used this wealth of talent to help create componentry that will handle whatever you can throw at it.
