This is a credit crunch bumper pack of downhill kit. Included in the bundle is a riser bar, stem, head lock and grips.
The head lock is an alternative to the star-fangled nut and keeps things tight. The bulbous grips are quite unpleasant and will slip easily around the bar when the rain inevitably falls.
The 6061 T6 aluminium bar has a comfortable sweep and doesn’t feel like a budget compromise. A 40mm rise seems excessive for a downhill setup though, and makes cornering sketchy due to the elevated centre of gravity.
At 680mm wide they may be more at home on a jump or trail bike, because they lack any decent leverage in fast turns, giving the front end a very twitchy feel.
The 50mm stem, also constructed from 6061 T6 aluminium, has a 10-degree rise and uses a 25.4mm bar clamp. It’s well made and does a decent job.
