Though there’s no doubting the appeal of the low price, the Control Tech’s performance leaves a little to be desired. There’s a lot of material in both bar and stem, and this translates not only into weight but also a harsh, unforgiving ride.
The shape of the bar is quite comfortable, but the ride feels too solid. Road buzz gets through all too easily, and even small potholes turn into wrist-jarring moments of discomfort. That said, if you’re a heavy rider looking for a hard setup on a budget, this could be the answer.
