Don’t let the boring name and budget price put you off — the HT PA03As are some of the best flat pedals I’ve ridden.
Weighing 345g for the pair, they’re not exactly portly, despite the fact the 105x107mm platform makes them only marginally smaller than some of the biggest pedals out there. This is because the pedal body is made from glass-reinforced nylon, rather than aluminium.
Even though the platform isn’t concave (as on most of my favourite pedals), I’ve found the PA03As work exceptionally well in all conditions. The 10 pins per side (eight replaceable metal ones and two fixed plastic ones) are a good length and give enough grip for even the roughest descents.
Generous cutaways in the platform mean that even if your shoes are caked in mud, traction isn’t compromised.
The chromoly axle runs on a bearing and bushing, and is well sealed. As for the nylon body, it’s taken all the abuse I can throw at it, suffering only cosmetic damage after some impressively inconsiderate riding.
Overall, these are great pedals, especially when you consider the price.
