Sturdy composite shaft with a simple-to-operate clamp

The clamp on this single-bolt Bontrager post has a polymer outer cone wedged into the tapered aluminium head to enable saddle tilt and fore/aft adjustment to be changed simultaneously. This makes fitting a breeze, but you do need to take care that tilt isn't altered when you’re setting the saddle’s fore/aft position.

The shaft of the Race X Lite comprises a thin aluminium sleeve wrapped in a thicker layer of carbon fibre, which reduces the chance of a failure caused by overclamping but still damps out small vibrations like a carbon post. However, rough roads aren’t as well muted as with the best all-carbon designs.
