The alloy Smica stuff is beautifully made with intelligent design and a finish that puts plenty of more expensive bike brands to shame

Smica has a decidedly Eastern Bloc ring to it. It is, in fact, an acronym for Strength Maximised In Critical Areas. Nice. But don't let the fact that you never see Smica stuff put you off, this might well be the find of the year for you.

The one-piece 3D forged 7005 alloy Smica seat post forms part of a post and stem combo (available separately) which prove that you don't need to pay through the nose for carbon composite exotica, just to shave the grams off your two-wheeled pride and joy. The alloy Smica stuff is beautifully made with intelligent design and a finish that puts plenty of more expensive brands to shame. The seat post is light at only 230g which is almost sure to be lighter than the one you already have, and at a hair under £30, you'll be able to take the missus out for dinner on the money you saved over the FSA.
