A well-priced all-rounder with tubeless ready compatibility

Although Geax is often missed off the shopping list for tyres, the quality and performance of its wares is generally very good.

The Mezcal is its fastest race tyre and rolls pretty well considering the amount of general summer-surface terrain grip you get. The little paddle bars clear well in mud and with good medial tread we quickly realised we could push it harder than expected on front or rear. Our only hairy moments occurred when we really chucked it into hardpack or tarmac corners, at which point the shoulder knobs gave way and sent us sideways without warning.

Grip is also potentially enhanced by the low pressure friendly TNT - Tube No Tube - design, which means they're tubeless once a dollop of 'Pit Stop' sealant has been added to the mix. It works well, and it's impressively light and well priced for a tubeless ready. This does make them hard to fit and remove, though.
