Panaracer Cinder review

Panaracer's Cinder has been around for a while now, with a lot of loyal followers looking for a vice-free allround tyre. It uses a similar square block-based tread pattern to their Fire XC tyre, but in a lower, faster rolling profi le that won't leave you struggling against drag on smooth surfaces.

Our review
Decent all-round combination of speed, grip and comfort

Panaracer's Cinder has been around for a while now, with a lot of loyal followers looking for a vice-free allround tyre.

It uses a similar square block-based tread pattern to their Fire XC tyre, but in a lower, faster rolling profi le that won't leave you struggling against drag on smooth surfaces. This does mean it tends to slide slightly early in wet mud though, but it lets go with a predictable 'smear' rather than snapping out suddenly. It also clears fast to pick up speed and grip on any drier patches.

Big side lugs mean you can lean it over confidently without squirming and the dual-compound ZSG rubber helps cornering stickiness on roots, rocks and so on. Decent pinch fl at/ puncture/stray rock protection is balanced against a reasonable easy to propel weight, and it lasts relatively well too. The Cinder is certainly a good spring/summer/autumn choice to complement Panaracer's winter Trailraker and it's available in enough sizes to suit most XC riders.
