Our review
Fast enough for summer but lacks all-round resistance for winter

The Comp looks like a race tyre and that’s pretty much what it is, but it’s the budget option in Ritchey’s Race Slick family. Like the pricier tyres in the range, it has a puncture-resistant belt under the tread.

Its nylon casing is coarser and there’s doubtless a bit more rubber in the tread than on its more expensive siblings, but the Race Slick Comp's rolling performance is good.

The pay-off is that the protection isn’t as reliable as some. The belt under the tread is good enough but the sidewalls are vulnerable to slashing. When cornering, grip from the slick shoulders of the tyre is fine.
