Expensive, but super responsive, ultralight and user-friendly

DT has made spokes and hubs for aeons, but its rims are relatively new. DT's not letting the side down though, as these fine race wheels show.

The XR4.1d rims are disc specific with a relatively narrow (22mm) width that tyres over 2.2in aren't happy on, but they're deep enough to be super tough in XC terms.

DT has gone for a very conventional 32 spoke, 3-cross lacing, but the bladed Aerolite spokes are pretty special and the whole wheel is remarkably stiff for its super-low weight. They've been our pet race/lightweight epic wheels for nearly two years now and are still as tight, true and responsive as the day we unwrapped them.

The 240s hubs are proven performers that you can pull apart with your bare hands for servicing plus rapid clutch engagement makes them outstanding off the start line. The price is high but these are light disc wheels and build quality is impeccable.
