Stiffness aplenty for those who need it, though expensive

The Fulcrum range is produced in conjunction with Campagnolo and there are similarities with the superbly smooth angular contact bearings used for the Chorus and Record hubs.

The rear wheel uses 21 massively oversized bladed aluminium spokes that are crossed on the drive side to help distribute stress and the remainder are radial with the front wheel carrying 16 spokes.

The hugely oversized nipple threads virtually eliminate loose spokes and do not appear to add much to the weight though they are fiddly to manipulate and it was not possible to remove the spokes to weigh the rim. A major bonus with these Campag built rims is that they are also compatible with Shimano hubs.
