Our review
A solid, stiff, reliable and potentially versatile wheel for the money

Halo’s proven Freedom Pro is a very safe, if slightly slow, way to go big. The 28mm Freedom Disc rim is fine for 2.35in tyres, and even 2.5s at a pinch. Their extra depth makes them extremely stiff and unyielding though, so beware of pinch flats at lower pressures.

They’re seriously strong too, with the 32 front, 36 rear plain-gauge spoke pattern giving extra confidence and a really tight feel through rock fields or carving turns.

Fast pick-up from the well-sealed Spin Doctor Pro rear hubs means a good snap, but there’s lots of rim weight to overcome in order to translate that into speed.

The Spin Doctor front hubs are 20mm as standard – 9mm quick-release and 15mm through-axle front spacers and 10mm, 12mm and 14mm rear axle sets are available, but they cost extra.
