Hunt Sprint Aero Wide wheelset review

Retro looks disguise state-of-the-art alloy performance from UK direct-sell wheel specialist Hunt’s Sprint Aero Wide wheelset.

With an 18.5mm internal span and mid-V 30mm section they’re wide, aero and really light, which translates into exactly the effervescent, speed-sustaining ride you’d hope from the hype.

Despite relatively low spoke tension (except for super-tight offside rear lacing) they’re not the most forgiving ride but do come tubeless taped and valved. Hunt will even supply them with tyres fitted for ultimate user friendliness.

Brake surfaces get wear dots and the fast-reacting freehub gets a single replaceable steel plate to stop spline damage. Skinny polished skewers with brass cams, spare spokes and spoke key are included too, leaving only adequate rather than amazing lifespan of the replaceable, low-friction EZO bearings stopping a perfect score.
