Good fit and comfortable, but ventilation is lacking in warmer conditions

The GT Force is a relatively basic lid that sits towards the value end of the scale. But on the face of it, it's one that performs perfectly well.

The aggressive styling belies its comfort, with the internal padding effectively creating a net from which the helmet is suspended from preventing any hard bits of EPS foam resting on your head. The flip side is that ventilation is compromised, as the mesh reduces airflow within the helmet. The padding is also a little sparse, which impacts on its ability to soak up sweat.

The Force relies on a plastic cradle and ratchet system for retention, and despite its rigid shape, it hugs the head nicely, without leading to any discomfort. It’s also relatively low profile at the sides, which means we didn’t have any issue with it getting in the way of the arms of our sunglasses.

At the front of the helmet is a large visor, which does an effective job of keeping sun and rain out of your face. It’s non-adjustable, but at this price that’s forgivable. Likewise, the lack of full in-moulding is understandable.

Aimed at mountain bike riders and commuters, GT has added reflective details to the shell. It’s a nice touch that benefits those who will use it out on the roads.
