Race thoroughbred with modern protection Buy if, You want the added safety of MIPS in a great value race lid

Pros:

MIPS, lightweight retention system, looks

Cons:

Heavier than some

It’s hard not to be impressed with the Bontrager’s credentials here with a lightweight sub £70 minimalist looking race helmet complete with MIPS (Multi-Directional Impact System).

This allows the outer shell to rotate up to 15mm to reduce rotating impact forces in a similar way to the scalp moves across the skull.

The Headmaster fit system looks delicate with its wires but works well offering a secure and comfortable ride with no pressure points. Bontrager’s FlatLock divider side strap set-up is a fixed-position fit that should work for most — they worked perfectly for me — and the soft straps sit well on the face.

The racy looking compact shell is well vented with good internal channelling making it a good choice for racers. It’s an impressive package offering all you could need without a huge price tag. Bontrager also offers a free replacement if crashed in the first year of ownership.
