The problem with mini pumps is that while many of them are as mini as you like, they don't actually pump properly.
Even those that do surely use steroid-abusing bodybuilders to reach the mythical'inflates to'pressures. This tiny Mini Morph - the smallest of Topeak's high quality Morph range - claims 160psi. To be fair, it did reach 110psi on a 700x23C tyre after 200 strokes and would have gone higher if I hadn't given up, knackered. And that's still my record for a mini pump.
On a huge 26x2.3in Mtb tyre it reached 39psi after 350 rather easier strokes. So it's slower than bigger volume minis such as the Blackburn Mammoth, but it keeps on pumping to higher pressures. Since you rest one end on the floor with a fold-out foot support you're only pressing down and not Bullworkering both ends. The short hose means that you won't 'saw' at the valve either. It's fairly comfortable to use, but gets less so the longer you spend bent over and at higher pressures.
It's still not the equal of a frame pump such as the Zefal HPX for road bikes, but for its size and bulk it's an effective mini - perhaps the best in its weight division. The pump head screws out to swap between Presta and Schrader valves. It easily fits a jersey or pannier pocket, or can be clipped to the frame.
