With its titanium pivots and carbon side plates, this Lezyne Carbon 10 is perhaps the ultimate in multitool bling, if that’s what the world needs in 2015. It’s beautifully made and presented (in a round, laser-etched and foam-lined tin), and at 80g is very light.
There’s a stretchy, leather-look cover to keep it from digging into thighs and/or possessions when not in use. At just 1cm thick it’s comfortable in your pocket, lacking bulk, despite the overlapping bits not sitting flat.
Leverage is limited because of its size, at around 6cm long (by 5cm wide), but the axle bolts don’t help. They’re smooth but conical, and can dig into palms when cranking at frozen bolts.
It’s more of an emergency tool than something for serious tweaking, but we’d like to see it stretched – just 1cm extra in those side plates would give more leverage, let the tools sit flat, and add very little weight. A longer body would still fit easily in pockets or packs, and it would earn its money harder.
