A decent, reliable tool that belongs in your toolbox

It's always a good idea to buy a new bike with the fork steerer tube left long so you can cut it down once you’ve dialled in your riding position.

Although there’s nothing to stop you cutting your steerer tube with a hacksaw, a vice and your naked eye, it’s a lot easier with the right tool.

SJS’s guide ensures a clean, straight cut that’s parallel to the fork crown. It takes tubes from 21mm to 34mm, which covers 1in and 1 1/8in forks as well as seatposts.

Build quality isn’t in quite the same league as Park Tools, but that’s reflected in the price and it’s fine for the home mechanic.
