Supportive, but midsole creates pressure points

As their name suggests, these shoes from Mavic are designed to be your companions on long days in the saddle.

Deep heel cups and Velcro straps let you achieve a snug fit, mesh inserts help keep your feet cool, reflective outlines add visibility, and the rubber outsole is good and grippy.

However, the midsole has a nylon shank for stiffening the front portion that our testers found uncomfortably prominent, leaving them with aching feet after a few hours.

If you’re looking for some shoes for shorter rides or commuting, then the Mavics will serve you well. But the uncomfortable midsole means we wouldn’t fancy touring any great distance in these. They’re available in half sizes from 3.5-13.
