A real-life race-spec women’s mountain bike shoe. All this, and beautiful too

Shimano have finally stepped up to the plate and designed a high-performance women’s shoe to match their men’s offerings.

The MW80 features a full-length carbon midsole – a first for Shimano’s women’s mountain bike shoe range – and it’s plenty stiff to deliver power into the pedals.

The standard high-quality Shimano uppers are highly durable synthetic leather for a long lifespan, with strategically positioned heavy-duty nylon mesh panels to help ventilate your feet and let damp evaporate.

The outsole lugs are deep and well shaped and, being real rubber (albeit hard rubber) they grip about as well as any clipless shoe.

Shimano pretty much kill the competition in the closure stakes with the smoothest, easiest to use micro buckle combined with twin forefoot Velcro straps. If you’re into stomping on pedals, then this is your must-have shoe for the summer.
