Specialized Tahoe womens shoes

Our review

Casual shoe suits those who divide their time between trail and pavement more than all-out trail heroes

Using Specialized’s Body Geometry technology, the Tahoe offers plenty of arch support and toe room. Padding on the tongue and collar means it feels more like a running shoe than bike-specific footwear. The sole has a stiffened insert to support use with clipless pedals, but there’s enough flex at the forefoot to make hikes comfortable.

We noticed hot-spots above the cleats when mashing the pedals, which is something for those planning longer clipped-in rides to consider. Mixed mesh and synthetic leather construction scrubs up nicely and vents (and drains) well.

The upper is fastened with laces and a Velcro strap, which does little to boost stability, and there’s some wallowing about above the pedal, even when clipped into smaller pedals. They work well with the increased support of combined clipless/platform pedals, and the rubber sole with deep tread is effective when tackling trails on the hoof.
