Velo Wireless computer (11)
The Velo is the cheapest wireless option from Japanese computer supremo Cateye, but it does the basics well.
Setting up is easy via the single front and hidden back buttons. While it’s tall, the zip-tie mount can be attached to the stem and round or aero-bars, and the wireless speed sensor zip-ties on quickly and neatly.
The two-line display is clear, displaying current speed at the top then scrolling through auto stop/ start ride time, ride distance, average speed, maximum speed, overall distance and a clock at the bottom.
The single button is a bit wobbly but easy to find even with thick gloves on. As there’s only one, there’s no confusion. Transmission is short range (70cm) but it is reliable within that distance and it stops cross-talk with other Cateye units.
We’ve had no weather-related problems either. The only downside is the lack of backlight function.
