Gamut’s chain devices have been taking the hits on our bikes for years, so when the firm announced it was making a stem, we knew we could expect some serious attention to detail.
The options are simple – a choice of grey or black finishes and 40 or 50mm lengths, both of which have no rise and a low 43mm stack height. At 155g for our 50mm sample, the CILLOS is nice and light, thanks in part to the impressive machining work that’s removed any sharp edges – even the 5mm Allen bolts have conical heads, and the hollow central section means you can see your front wheel when you look down!
The faceplate machining makes it easy to get your bar central and there’s no noticeable flex on the trail. The stem clamps the bar and steerer securely at the recommended torque settings so there’s no need to get heavy-handed, and Gamut is so confident in its strength that is has a lifetime warranty. While the Cillos may be hard to come by outside the UK, Gamut ships its products worldwide.
