A strong selection of sturdy, good value tools

The PRO kit packs a very useful set of well-made tools into a long but pretty slim case that can stop even fairly serious mechanical problems ruining your day.

The bigger tools feature chunky rubber grips for comfort, and include pedal spanners, a chain whip, a cassette tool, bottom bracket tools and cone spanners. There’s a decent set of cable cutters too.

The chain breaker is full size, while a chainring bolt tool and a spoke key with swappable heads in five sizes are nice touches – certainly better than a pair of cheap screwdrivers.

PRO's Professional Hardcase packs a genuinely useful set of tools and doesn't hog space

The eight Allen keys are ball-ended and run from 2mm to 10mm, and are chromed for maximum sparkle. The smallest Torx on the three-pronged tool here is a T25; we would prefer a smaller T10 instead of the rather useless T40 size that is included. The PRO’s plastic case feels a little bit cheap and fragile too.

The PRO Hardcase would serve well either in the van or at home, and is well focused on genuinely useful specialist tools. Its slim form slips neatly into small gaps in tightly-packed cars, too, making it an easy companion.
