The Canadian city of Kamloops, BC, will host the Intermontane Challenge, a multi-day mountain bike race in 2009. The 450km cross-country stage race will be held between 27-31 July and is boasting a prize purse of $60,000, making it one of the richest events of its type.

The Intermontane parcours will use a clover-leaf design so that while a different course will be used each day, each night the racers will end up in Kamloops. "Riders can have a home-base that they return to every night and Kamloops' restaurants and hotels will benefit from the presence of the riders," said course designer Dustin Adams.

The Challenge will be open to competitors from anywhere in the world. There will be categories for men and women, including solo and two-rider teams. Registration opens in September 2008 and will be limited in the first year to a total of 300 riders.
