Belgium’s Lazer continues its first-name only monikers with the new Eddy (after last year’s Walter) cleverly circumnavigating any endorsement issues while still making you think of Belgium’s legendary riders (Godefroot and Merckx) — how long until we see a Tom, Roger, or Phillipe?
The Eddys have a shield lens built into a more substantial frame, and while the bottom edge is open the nose piece is built into the frame itself.
The straight arms are tightly hinged and well sprung, so they hold in place well. The mid-size 48mm deep lens is well vented and has a decent wrap, but the outer edges finish a little short meaning you get some light bleed at the edges.
Changing lenses takes bit of work because the nose-bridge connection can be pretty tight the first few times, but radiused edges on the lens mean they go in without damage.
Wind protection is excellent and the package with three lenses for all conditions is good to see on a premium priced glass.
