Scott has recalled some Speedster road and gravel bikes from its 2022 collection sold in Europe, Asia and South America. The Swiss brand says the fork steerer tube can break suddenly, “creating a possible fall hazard”.
The stop-ride notice does not pertain to bikes purchased in North America or Australia.
The affected models are:
- Scott Speedster 40
- Scott Contessa Speedster
- Scott Gravel 35 Speedster
- Scott 50 Speedster Gravel 40 EQ
- Scott Speedster Gravel 50
Owners of these bikes should stop riding them immediately and hand them into an authorised Scott dealer. The fork will be replaced free of charge.
A spokesperson said: “Scott internal testing found traces of cracking within the fork steerer. No case of injury or breakage has been reported in the market.”
Scott says it sold 1,985 units of the impacted models, manufactured in Hungary and China, between October 2021 and March 2022.
